Sketches

I have been meeting with so many wonderful brides and grooms in the past few weeks--January and February is prime time for planning spring and summer weddings!

Over the past few years, I have met with so many brides who have a great picture in their mind of what they want, but they can't find a picture in a magazine or book that matches their vision exactly. To help make sure that I understand their vision completely, I have started sketching their arrangements and tablescapes as part of the consultation and planning process. This makes it so much easier for us to communicate and make sure that my vision matches the brides'.

I am definitely no "artiste" with a pen, but these are some sketches for upcoming weddings...stay tuned to see the "real life" versions!

Spring Colors, Fall Wedding

I love it when a bride does exactly what she wants--no matter what season! Allison was dying for a spring wedding with light pink and green--and she especially loves peonies. Since her wedding was in November and peonies are out of season, we used light pink lisianthus and 'candy bianca' roses to get a similar look. She also loved Lady's Mantle which was not available--but we used bupleurum and seeded eucalyptus berries to get the same effect.

October Weddings

I am completely behind on blogging! Here are some images from October weddings--lots of orange, deep red and fall textures. I just love fall weddings because there are so many neat textures to work with--especially fall foliage, chocolate cosmos, fiddlehead fern curls, hypericum berries, and seeded eucalyptus. We paired all of these great textures with sunflowers, roses, dahlias and calla lilies in rich fall colors. One of the brides chose a very rustic theme for her centerpieces, so we used pumpkins with flowers in the top ---perfect for October!

Fall colors in Park City

Lacy's wedding was a few weeks ago at the beautiful Park City Mountain Resort. It was perfect weather and a beautiful backdrop. I just loved the deep fall colors that she chose to incorporate in all of her flowers.

Hot apricot, pink, lime and chocolate

Most of the weddings I do from September-November are in the fall color scheme--red, burgandy, orange, brown etc. So, I was so excited when Tiffany planned hot apricot, hot pink, lime green and chocolate for her Sept. 30 wedding flowers! We used dahlias, gerbera daisies, roses, green fuji mums and kermits in her all of her arrangments. I just love mixing the chocolate brown with the vivid and bright pink, orange and green. Oh, and her cake was adorable!!

Polka Dots and Bling

Natalie and Brenden's wedding (back in August) used lots of pink, polka dots and bling! We used rhinestone gems in the bride's bouquet which was a mix of light pink and cream roses with a few hot pink roses. We also put a rhinestone cuff around the stems. To incorporate the polka dots, we used light pink gerbera daisies with dark centers.

Sunflowers

Merrilee and David were married at the beautiful Rendezvous Ranch in Oakley, UT. The mountain setting was absolutely gorgeous and their sunflower theme was just perfect for their early September wedding!

We used yellow and some red sunflowers, yellow roses, chocolate cosmos and seeded eucalyptus berries throughout the whole wedding. Merrilee chose 3 different centerpiece designs and containers which is such a great way to add interest to a room.

We used a 20 ft. fresh garland with 2 sunflower swags to highlight the fence behind the ceremony area. We also placed two large urn pieces at the front of the altar area.



To coordinate with the various sizes of tables, we created 3 different designs for the centerpieces using galvanized pails and rustic baskets filled with sunflowers.

Pink on Pink

Shades of pink has been a popular color theme this year! Kara chose shades of pink, black and white for her wedding colors, and we created this bouquet with light pink and hot pink roses, gerbera daisies and white daisy mums. Can you think of a happier combination of flowers?

Romance at Alta Rustler Lodge

September has been BUSY, so I am a little bit behind on blogging!

Here are some highlights from Labor Day weekend, when Melissa & Rusty tied the knot at Alta Rustler Lodge. Melissa chose shades of pink, green and cream for her romance-themed event. We used roses, calla lilies, dahlias, hydrangea, lisianthus and snapdragons in various combinations in the bouquets, centerpieces and altar pieces. I think this has to be one of my favorite weddings of 2006...so far...

Looking Forward to Fall!

We have a lot of bridals scheduled in the next few weeks for our fall clients. I'm getting so excited for the rich colors and textures that come with fall weddings! This bouquet today included 'Black Magic' roses, 'Circus' roses, mango mini callas and chocolate cosmos. I am a huge fan of the chocolate cosmos---they are a deep burgundy/brown color and the actually smell like chocolate!

And the winner is...

This bouquet is by far the most requested item out of our entire portfolio! I have duplicated it exactly a few times, but most often brides want to change a few things to make it unique to them. In any case, this one definitely wins the popularity contest!

Gotta Love Gerbs!

Gerbera daisies are as popular as ever this year! We have been doing tons of weddings with pink gerbs this summer and we have a few upcoming fall weddings with shades of orange and red. No matter the color, they are always fresh and fun!

Blue Hydrangea

Heather and Ben's wedding was so unique and so blue! They chose black and blue as their colors. We used shades of blue hydrangea in the bouquets, centerpieces and cake. The boutonnieres and corsages were made with blue tweedia. My favorite part? It's a tie between the hanging hydrangea pomanders that were placed above the cake table and the ribbon/picture gallery we set up behind the wishes table...
